облигация
Долговая расписка, выдаваемая заемщиком кредитору. Облигации обычно выпускаются государством, местными органами власти или компаниями в форме ценных бумаг с фиксированной процентной ставкой (fixed-interest securities).
Однако существует много разновидностей облигаций: с фиксированными или переменными процентными ставками, с правом досрочного погашения или без него, краткосрочные и долгосрочные, обеспеченные и необеспеченные, обращающиеся и необращающиеся.
Выплата процентов по фиксированной ставке обычно производится два раза в год, однако может быть отложена и до истечения срока соглашения (обычно от 5 до 10 лет). Заемщик в этом случае выплачивает определенную сумму денег и номинальную стоимость облигации.
Большая часть облигаций не имеет обеспечения и не дает права на участие в организации (см.: debenture (долговое обязательство)). Облигации также выпускаются под ссуды, закладные, доход по кредитным картам и т.д. как обращающиеся ценные бумаги.
Дисконтная облигация - это облигация, которая продается ниже ее номинальной стоимости;
премиальная облигация - это облигация, продаваемая по цене выше номинала.

Кредитная ценная бумага, представляющая собой долговое обязательство правительства или фирмы и гарантирующая владельцу возврат долга в течение некоторого периода времени — в форме регулярных выплат определенной суммы денег, выигрышей или другими способами. Применяются облигации, обеспеченные физическими активами, доходом, облигации с возрастающей стоимостью. Облигация, удостоверяет внесение денежных средств ее владельцем и подтверждает обязательство получателя возместить ему номинальную стоимость этой ценной бумаги в предусмотренный в ней срок с уплатой фиксированного процента (если иное не предусмотрено условиями выпуска). Термином О. принято также обозначать любые надежные активы (акции, срочные депозиты и др.), которые выступают как альтернатива владению деньгами.
